Discovering crochet design in my mid-twenties changed the course of my life. I found a way to take something I had loved for years and turn it into my own language - one built around texture, fibers and the endless possibilities of crochet. I’ve always been drawn to Nordic aesthetics: simplicity, function, natural materials and things made to last. That naturally found its way into my work. I design garments that I want to wear myself, but also pieces that are interesting to make - where the process matters just as much as the finished sweater. Early in my career, I was voted Best New Crochet Designer. At the time, it felt a little like winning the crochet world’s version of an Oscar - and it gave me the confidence to keep going in my own direction. Since then, my work has appeared in magazines and publications around the world, I’ve made crochet pieces for New York Fashion Week, taught makers across Europe, and written two books about the craft I’ve now been exploring for more than 30 years. But the thing that still interests me most is the same thing that interested me in the beginning: what else can crochet do? I don’t want crochet to imitate knitting, or to be limited by what we already know it can be. I want to play with texture and construction, find unexpected solutions and make garments that feel contemporary, wearable and distinctly crochet. That curiosity is still at the heart of everything I make. Let’s redefine crochet together!
